He has asked the Congress to pass anti-strike legis lation. Truman now calls on John L. Lewis to discuss the coal strike. . . . Charlotte Observer had only 8 pages today on account of paper shortage . . Letter from Congress man A. L. Bulwinkle states that James ML Baker, Jr., had passed his mental examination for admis sion to the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He will take his physical examination on June 13. Jim is a champion golfer, and star basketball and football play er, and has served on the staff of Camp Mondamin for a number of years. His friends feel sure he will have po difficulty passing his physi cal examination . . . Carroll P. Rogers will be in charge of the Tryon Kiwanis Club program Tues da^at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall . . . The Florida Amusement Co., with its tents, shows, rides, and conces sions to entertain hundreds on the vacant lot near the Ice Plant. There has been some objection to the families of the show people coming in their trailers and park ing right in Tryon where there are no sewerage facilities to accom modate them. In Florida and other places where they have trailer camps the municipal authorities provide water, light and sewerage connections for a small sum. This is a new problem for Tryon. Show people themselves over the years W. N. C. DEER HUNTING TO BE SUSPENDED Deer hunting in all W. N. C. counties will be suspended for an indefinite period of years while the Division of Game and Inland Fish eries carries out a program of trap ping and redistributing deer as directed by the Board of Conser vation and Development at a re cent meeting of the Board held at Fayetteville M,ay 13-15. According to Charles West, special deputy fish and game pro tector, who received the foregoing advices from Commissioner John D. Findlay, this program can re sult in Polk County receiving a quota, of deer for the establish ment of a local deer herd. The full report of everp sports man and conservationist to this program is solicited and urged by Commissioner Findlay, who states that, upon this cooperation, the success of the program depends to great extent. Shooting At Mill Spring Will Connor, prominent Mill Spring citizen is being held by Sheriff W. D. Hines on a war rant charging Connor with shoot ing Lionel Brisco in the right knee cap. No hearing has been held. Fight started over an argument. have been doing much to better their living conditions. But small communities will have to provide sanitary parking lots if they are to enjoy carnival entertainment. New laws and health regulations are cropping up all the time to change our ways of living and doing business.
